At Potomac Eye Surgeons, we proudly provide a comprehensive range of state of the art ophthalmic services. In addition, we fit and prescribe vision products, perform cosmetic procedures and dispense products.
laser-assisted cataract surgery
Dr. Wenger performs micro-incision, laser-assisted bladeless cataract surgery with the option of advanced technology lens implants (IOLs). The procedure is performed in an outpatient setting using topical anesthetic eye drops.
The implantation of IOLs helps to provide patients with clearer vision after cataract surgery. The choice of IOL often significantly reduces the need for corrective eyewear. Advanced technology IOLs, also referred to as premium IOLs, include toric for astigmatism and multifocal implants.
dry eye syndrome
Potomac Eye Surgeons offers many treatments for chronic dry eye disease. Our goal is to treat the underlying cause, not just the symptoms. We treat the entire spectrum of mild to severe disease using topical and oral medications. We also perform procedures, including tear duct occlusion with punctal plugs, localized eyelid heat therapy, placement of bandage contact lenses, and insertion of amniotic membrane tissue.
diagnosis and treatment for glaucoma, macular degeneration & diabetes
Potomac Eye Surgeons uses cutting-edge technology to detect a wide range of major eye diseases, including glaucoma, diabetic eye disorders, and macular degeneration. We carefully monitor disease progression to tailor treatment plans for our patients with the assistance of ocular coherence tomography (OCT), visual field examination, fundus photography, and Diopsys visual electrophysiology (VEP and ERG). 24 hour home monitoring of eye pressure is now an option for our patients using the new Icare HOME device.
contact lens fitting and dispensing
Dr. Wenger provides custom contact lens fittings for nearsightedness, farsightedness, presbyopia, and keratoconus. She fits daily disposable contact lenses as well as monthly disposable contact lenses. Options also include gas permeable, scleral, and prosthetic contact lenses. Our staff takes the time to teach patients effective techniques for both contact lens insertion and removal.
aesthetic and cosmetic treatments
Dr. Wenger manages dynamic and fine lines with Botox. For deeper lines, as an alternative to surgery, she uses a combination of Allergan fillers, including Voluma, Juvederm, Vollure, and Volbella. Dr. Wenger also offers Kybella injections. This product is the first FDA-approved injectable treatment to contour and improve the appearance of submental fullness without surgery.
In addition, our staff is committed to helping our patients maintain healthy skin around the eyes and entire face. Our staff has undergone extensive training with ZO Skin Health and can assist you in finding a skin health solution that is tailored to your needs.
Interested in longer eyelashes? Our office dispenses Latisse, an FDA-approved treatment to grow eyelashes for people with inadequate or not enough lashes. We also offer Lumify, a new eye drop to reduce redness.
